A new Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform provides real-time awareness of utilisation rates and cargo flows.

The new platform based on Intel technology uses machine-learning models to detect objects in the port yard using sensors installed in the port area and automatically provides real-time awareness of utilisation rates and cargo flows. Organizing the flow of cargo and global supply chains continue to be a great challenge.
Mr Tenovuo said that potential benefits from using the platform include better use of existing capacity, reduced port area emissions, accurate real-time prediction of arrivals and departures and optimised port calls, subsequently leading to time and cost savings. “For example, Lidar sensor data, often combined with other data sources, can be used to optimise the arrival and departure of landside traffic. Sensors can detect congestion, enabling re-routing port gate and inner area traffic,” said Mr Tenovuo.
