Ningbo Ocean Shipping Company, officially known as Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd., is a prominent and publicly-listed integrated shipping service provider headquartered in the key port city of Ningbo, China. As a controlled subsidiary of the giant Ningbo Zhoushan Port Co., Ltd., the company benefits from a formidable strategic position within one of the world’s busiest port complexes. Its core operations are focused on container shipping, where it maintains an extensive network of near-sea routes vital for regional trade, connecting major Chinese ports to key destinations in Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia. Furthermore, the company is a significant player in domestic coastal shipping and inland river transportation, providing comprehensive logistics solutions that leverage its deep connection to the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan. This integration allows it to function as a crucial logistical link, facilitating the flow of goods for one of the most economically vibrant regions in the world.

Strategic Investment

Chinese shipping company Ningbo Ocean Shipping has announced an investment of approximately 2.9 billion yuan ($406.5 million) through its Singapore division, reinforcing its ambition to expand globally and strengthen its presence on key maritime trade routes.

The plan includes the creation of two new subsidiaries:

  • Ningbo Ocean Shipping Singapore Longitude, with an investment of 1.2 billion yuan ($168.2 million), tasked with building and operating four 2,700-TEU container ships.

  • Ningbo Ocean Shipping Singapore Latitude, with a capital commitment of 1.7 billion yuan ($238.3 million), dedicated to four 4,300-TEU vessels.

Shipbuilding Orders

The company confirmed that all financing will be covered either through its own funds or independently raised capital. The vessels have already been ordered from Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, a major Chinese shipyard.

  • The four 4,300-TEU ships, ordered in August 2025, are scheduled for delivery in 2029.

  • The four 2,700-TEU ships, commissioned earlier in April 2025, are expected to join the fleet in 2027.

This investment underscores the company’s confidence in long-term global shipping demand, particularly in the containerized trade segment.

International Expansion

By anchoring its expansion strategy in Singapore, one of the world’s most critical maritime hubs, Ningbo Ocean Shipping is strengthening its international footprint. The move consolidates the company’s position in global shipping corridors and enhances its competitiveness in both regional and intercontinental trade.
