Shanghai, 28 April 2025 – In a landmark move for global automotive logistics, the Association of European Vehicle Logistics (ECG) and the China Automotive Logistics Association (CALA) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to enhance efficiency, quality, and best practices in finished vehicle logistics (FVL) between Europe and China.
Strengthening Global Automotive Logistics
The agreement, signed in Shanghai, underscores the growing importance of international collaboration in vehicle logistics, particularly as Chinese automakers expand their presence in Europe. The partnership will focus on:
-
Knowledge sharing, including ECG’s Quality and Operational Manuals
-
Best practice exchanges to improve supply chain efficiency
-
Joint development of international logistics standards
Frank Schnelle, Executive Director of ECG, stated:
“This agreement marks a major step toward deeper international collaboration in vehicle logistics. Sharing proven methodologies will help increase efficiency and deliver long-term benefits for both sides.”
Chris Zou, Executive Vice President of CALA, added:
“Partnering with ECG strengthens our international focus and creates new opportunities for our members. Cooperation with such a well-established European counterpart brings valuable momentum to the further development of the Chinese FVL sector.”
Why This Partnership Matters
-
China’s auto exports are surging, requiring efficient logistics networks in Europe.
-
European logistics providers can leverage CALA’s expertise in China’s rapidly evolving market.
-
The deal paves the way for harmonized standards, reducing inefficiencies in cross-border vehicle transport.
Next Steps: ECG Annual Conference 2025
Further discussions will take place at ECG’s Annual Conference in Amsterdam (16-17 October 2025), where industry leaders will explore new opportunities in global vehicle logistics.
