In a major step toward clean energy transition, KEZAD Group, the largest operator of integrated economic zones, and Broaden Energy, a UAE-based renewable energy company, have signed a 50-year land lease agreement to establish the largest hydrogen manufacturing facility in the Middle East in KEZAD Area A (Al Ma’mourah).

The agreement, signed during the Make it in the Emirates (MIITE) Forum, marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s push for sustainable energy solutions and aligns with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 for net-zero emissions.

Key Highlights of the Project:

  • AED 455 million investment in an 80,000 sqm facility

  • First and largest hydrogen generation, refueling, and storage facility in the region

  • Utilizes renewable energy sources, including hydrogen, solar, and wind power

  • Expected to create 1,000+ direct jobs

  • Supports Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification and clean energy goals

A Strategic Move for Renewable Energy

Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO of Economic Cities and Free Zones, emphasized the importance of renewable energy in Abu Dhabi’s economic growth:

“Renewable energy is crucial to Abu Dhabi’s mission to diversify the energy mix. Our partnership with Broaden Energy reinforces our commitment to innovation in sustainable manufacturing.”

Adnan Sokolija, CEO of Broaden Energy, added:

“This facility is a critical step in our expansion, aligning with the UAE’s vision for local manufacturing and clean energy development.”

Strengthening the UAE’s Hydrogen Economy

The project positions the UAE as a leader in green hydrogen production, supporting global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. With AD Ports Group and Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) backing the initiative, the facility is set to enhance the region’s energy security and industrial growth.

As the UAE accelerates its clean energy transition, this landmark project underscores Abu Dhabi’s role as a hub for renewable energy innovation.
